Clarification: Diploma Orders and Cap & Gown Orders

Hello Everyone,
Here is clarification for the diploma order and for the cap-and-gown order, which are separate from one another:
Diploma Order Form: Seniors, if you haven't already done so, please complete this Diploma Order Google Form by the end of today, 12/4/20. We are able to see that most students in the Class of 2021 have completed this (great job), but for those of you who haven't had a chance, click the link here: https://forms.gle/ND5fXn4D2cYYDDrU7
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cap-and-Gown Order (Jostens): Jostens will be mailing out order packets to all seniors at Monache High School, which you should receive sometime this month. We have received updated information that explains that the cap-and-gown order deadline is actually February 1, 2021. After that deadline, orders may still be made, but at a higher price. The current price for just the cap and gown, which includes tax and shipping to Monache High School, is $43.10. You may follow the order details from Jostens, shown below, if you prefer to order your cap and gown now.
To order from Jostens, you may do the following:
Order online 24/7 at www.jostens.com
Order by phone: 1-800-JOSTENS (1-800-567-8367

Thank you for being flexible with our communication with these two needs. Have a great day.

PUSD Athletics Update - December 1

Dear Porterville Unified Students, Parents and Community,
Porterville Unified School District Athletic Directors have been regularly meeting with the East Sequoia League (ESL), East Yosemite League (EYL) and the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) in order to plan our upcoming seasons of sport. As you know, COVID-19 has pushed back the fall season of sport to this upcoming winter, and our winter season of sport has been pushed back to coincide with the spring season of sport. Just last week, the Governor of California and the State Department of Public Health delayed the release of their guidelines for youth sports. These guidelines are necessary to make an accurate appraisal on the timeline for full practice and competition.
Currently, voluntary conditioning for our fall athletics is permitted, but official practice is not allowed. Please understand that if you are traveling during the holiday season, student athletes will not be penalized for missing the optional conditioning sessions. With the current county restrictions in place, this will likely make it so that we are unable to start official practices in December in time for our already scheduled competitions. It is important to point out that several of our sports are full-contact or require indoor competition and handling of the same equipment. As of now, there are several unknowns. We would like to emphasize that PUSD understands the importance of athletics for our students and to our community. We will continue to work diligently to exhaust all possibilities to keep athletics intact this school year.
In the meantime, we will continue to allow conditioning of our athletes and keep you apprised of any changes related to high school athletics. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your site athletic director.
Opportunity Days and Finals

Students,

I have a couple things to share with you all. First of all, don't give up. Thank you all that filled out the Principal Check-In survey. I anonymously shared your thoughts with the teachers so that they can see how you're feeling. We're going to make some end of semester adjustments to help you get to the finish line this semester.

Opportunity Days, Nov 23-25: Next week Monday, November 23rd-Wednesday, November 25th are designated make-up days. You will not engage in a new lesson or have additional schoolwork assigned. These days are dedicated to making up work to raise your grades. You need to Zoom into class and work with your teacher on which assignments they will allow you to make up or redo. It is up to the teacher as to how far they will let you go back to make up work. If you have all your work completed you will need to Zoom in for attendance. Your teacher may dismiss you early and then you can take a break since you don't need to make up work.

Finals: All High School classes will not administer finals during finals week. This is a districtwide decision that all High School principals agreed upon. (Porterville College courses follow PC guidelines)

Opportunity Days, Dec 14-17: Instead of studying and taking finals this semester we will use the days for make-up work. Take advantage of this opportunity. We are cheering you on at the sidelines. Finish the race strong! Go Marauders!
PSAT

Juniors,
Monache will be administering the PSAT test on Jan 26, 2021. Juniors who take this test compete for National Merit Honors and potentials scholarships. Tests can be purchased for $17 on the Monache website or at the front office door. Space is limited, so priority will be given on a first come, first serve basis. Contact your counselor if you have any questions.
Attention Marauders! We have a few Monache Clubs that have started club meetings (via Zoom). If you are a member or would like to become a member of Link Crew, Class of 2023, Alive in Him, CSF, SkillsUSA or the PIVET club please see the attached Club Meeting Calendar for information. Join in, visit with your friends and start planning some club activities! MHS clubs are open to all Monache students.
